Just like every other thing, it takes a few processes to set the Remote Desktop Access up.
On the lower left side of your computer screen, you'll find a Windows icon, click on it.
Check your screen for the all programs menu, most likely at the bottom of your screen, and click on it.
After clicking on the all programs menu, the screen displays some options, click on the accessories option.
The accessories option then displays another set of options. Check through and click the Remote Desktop Connection program.
After clicking on the Remote Desktop Connection program, a new page opens. This page is labeled as Remote Desktop Connection. It holds two fields. the first one has "Computer" with a space to be filled in front of it. The other holds "user" with "none specified" in front of it.
Below these two fields are a notification that you will be asked for credentials when you connect. The bottom of this page then holds 4 options; connect, cancel, help, and options.
In the empty field, (the one in front of"computer") enter your IP address and click "connect" in one of the options at the bottom part of the screen.
On the next page that comes up, you'll be required to type in your username. Type in "Administrator" as your username.
With these steps, you are logged in to your Virtual Private Server hosting. You will only be logged out if the credentials don't match or if you log out yourself.
You can connect with a much simpler method on your Windows computer. Simply follow these steps.
- At the lower left side of your computer screen, you'll find a Windows icon, click on it.
- Click "Run" among the options
- On the next page, type “mstsc” and press the Enter key.
- This brings you to the Remote Desktop connection panel as described above. Follow the instructions as stated in step 5 above.
Remote Desktop Access for Linux Computer
In case your computer is Linux, then you have to install the RDesktop app to run this feature on your PConce that is done, follow these steps.
- Go to the command prompt search for‘rdesktop‘ to confirm that you have installed the app.
- In the command prompt, type‘rdesktop‘ and the IP address of your server. What you've typed should look like this. "$ rdesktop 188.8.131.52"
- Once your address is in,press theEnter key
The last process should direct you to the Remote Desktop connection panel as described above. Follow the instructions as stated in step 5 above.
Setting upRemote Desktop on Mac OS X
Microsoft Remote Desktop is supported by Mac OS X version 10.9 and versions after it. Since it is not windows you'll have to download this feature from theMac App Store.
Use the "new" button or press Command and N. This takes you to a new page with different fields. Fill the following as such.
PC name: enteryour server’s IP address
Password: Enter the Administrator password.
Adjust your full-screen and multi-monitor settings to suit you.
Close this page.
Go to My Desktops and pick your remote desktop connection. Click the start option in the menu or press the return key to connect.
In case your server runs a self-signed SSL certificate, an information pops up whileRemote Desktop matches credentials.
