What is Offshore VPS Hosting?
An offshore server implies that the server's location is not in the same country of residence as your business. For instance, we provide US-based hosting plans to clients that are in different parts of the world. This shows that the clients need not be in the same country as our company to operate.
Top-notch infrastructures in countries like the United States imply high-speed connectivity. It can also imply improved uptime for your server. Aside from this, there are other advantages, albeit not so apparent.
Prospective Cost Cuts
Some local fees, such as sales tax, differ from country to country. With an offshore VPS, you can be sure to cut costs in some instances by no additional lower taxes or fees included in the amount you pay every month.
There are also fewer government regulations on the activities on the internet in some countries. The hosting companies will enjoy cost cuts with fewer regulations from the government. For servers that are situated in countries with many stifling regulations, it can surge the costs of operations of the hosting company that is providing you with the service in the first place. You'll inherit these increased costs.
Anonymity and Freedom of Speech
One of the greatest advantages of offshore VPS for many companies is the protection from the interference of the government and the free speech that it brings. Local laws state the type of access and power the government can wield on the information that your server contains and the server itself. With an offshore server, these laws are null and void.
That is not to say that the server is impervious to all the local laws your business' location, but with your server being in the very same location as your business could spell greater risk of your data being handed over to the government.
It is for this particular reason that some popular groups utilize offshore VPS hosting. For example, WikiLeaks has thought about using this form of hosting. It is not only the state that you should be wary of. Also, be cautious that you don't fall into the traps of disreputable copyright suits via DMCA complaints.
Dependability Can Be Better
One other prospective upside of offshore VPS hosting is its greater dependability. Aside from the top-notch internet facilities in certain countries, there can also be a variation of their electrical supplies. For instance, the United States ranks 20th in the world in terms of the quality of electricity supply, when placed shoulder-to-shoulder with the Netherlands, which ranks 7th.
We have a long back up supply in case the electricity goes out. Between this long power back up supply and the fairly good electricity supply, you can be sure that your server will be up and running if we are your hosting company.
There are certain places that are more at risk with natural disasters than other places. If you have a server that is situated in places that are prone to incidences of storms, flooding, or some other natural disaster, your data and business will suffer it. Thankfully, with us, you have nothing to worry about!
Enhanced Website Optimization
The internet is a universal network that covers almost every part of the globe. When it relates to your website optimization, your business' location does not matter. Your customers' location is all that matters. With a server that is nearer to the bulk of your website's traffic, your site's load times can be thoroughly enhanced.
The transfer of data around the globe occurs in split seconds, but a one or two-second load times can determine whether a visitor will stay in your site or not. Data from Google indicates that the load time of a page goes from 1-3 seconds, the probability that a visitor on your site will click away raises by 32%. With an addition of two seconds more, that probability will increase to 90%. So, how well your website loads is a great determinant of whether a visitor stays on your website or not.
We have dedicated and fully managed VPS servers that will offer increased optimization to your American visitors while also maintaining an outstanding performance to the other part of the globe.
Selecting the Correct Offshore Hosting
A notable problem that plagues dealing with an offshore VPS hosting company is the support you enjoy when you opt for their plans. Language barriers can be the limitation in some instances, for a different time zone. With the tons of benefits that an offshore VPS hosting company can have, it would not mean a lot to most customers if they have poor customer support.
Our customer service functions all round the clock, every day of the week. We'll be available to attend to your complaints irrespective of where you are on the globe.
Whether you are on the lookout for a dedicated offshore server or an offshore VPS hosting service, we have you covered. You can reach out to us if you are uncertain of the right plan that your business needs.

Making Your Own VPS Server with Linux
Building your own web server with Linux OS, you'll need an operating system and the requisite hardware. Also, the way of gauging the server from the internet should be set up, and the web server itself should also be installed.
To make your own web server powered by Linux, we've broken down the steps for you below:
- Find an unwanted/old PC
- Install a Linux OS
- Set up the app webserver software (MySQL, PHP, Apache)
- Check out the server from the internet
1. Find an Old PC for Your Web Server
Before picking a PC for use when creating your web server, you must know the operating system's minimum requirements. Although Ubuntu is well-known, it is not sufficiently lightweight. Rather, Lubuntu 19.04 is a more viable alternative. Lubuntu 19.04 is a more compact option to Ubuntu, and they are both built using the same code.
Download: Lubuntu 19.04
The Minimum System Requirements of Lubuntu 19.04
The minimum requirement of Lubuntu 19.04 is:
- A 512MHz dual-core processor or greater (1GHz suggested, it is 2GHz for Ubuntu)
- 4GB RAM
- 25GB hard drive space
- 32-bit (for older computers) and 64-bit versions (for newer computers)
You can pick a suitable old computer at a thrift store, or you may have one at the back of your drawer. It is important to note that you can install a Linux-powered web server on Raspberry Pi. This relatively small PC cost less than $30 is a nice alternative if you encounter an old hardware issue.
You should not be restricted to old Windows computers. MacBooks and Apple Macs made before 2006 that feature PowerPC processors can also run on Linux OS.
Like Ubuntu, Lubuntu supports a large plethora of hard drives, video cards, and some other hardware. Run the Live command line to know if the distro will function on your preferred hardware.
If you are looking to run the server twenty-four hours a week, ensure that you are operating it from an area with good air circulation. If you can afford it, it will be great to place it in an air-conditioned room during the summer. Your server and heat are sworn, enemies.
2. Install a Linux OS
Installing Lubuntu is not difficult. Just take an ISO file and have it written to a USB flash or a DVD to begin.
There is one other important thing to note. If your PC is running on a 32-bit operating system, utilize the 64-bit operation system version rather.
Put in the installation storage media in your PC when you are ready and reboot your PC. If you have to tweak the BIOS settings to boot your PC from the USB or optical drive, get busy doing that. A boot media option menu may be opened in certain instances.
With the booting of the installation media, choose the "Install Lubuntu" option. Choose the "Download Updates" option when you are prompted to do so and install third-party software. After that, select the "Erase and Use the Entire Disk" option.
Have it at the back of your mind that following this route will erase any OS that is in your PC. If you want something else, then stick through the other options. The process of having your home folder encrypted is not a great option for a web server scheme. Reboot your PC after the completion of the installation.
When the reboot is completed, check out for updates. Follow this route: System > Administration > Update Manager > Install Updates. After the installation of any updates, you may have to reboot again.
3. Install Linux Web Server Software
While options are available, a lot of sites on a blend of PHP, MySQL, and Apache. This recommendation is similar to what you'll get if you are installing on Windows.
All three tools can be installed via the Software Center. Launch this via This is where we install the software we need.
You can install all three tools through the Software Center. Follow this route: System > Administration > Synaptic Package Manager. It is here that you'll have the software that you need to be installed.
Look for and install the subsequent package titles; each of them will feature different prerequisites: php5, apache2, MySQL-server, and php5-MySQL. Apply the changes to have the packages installed.
These packages will start downloading and will be installed soon. The software installer will prompt you for the "root" password of the MySQL. It is not necessary to reboot.
Alternatively, you can install these kits in the command line. Launch the terminal and then:
sudo apt install lamp-server^ -y
Check Out Your Web Server!
You can check out the installation by launching your Firefox browser on your server input http://127.0.0.1/. Inputting http://localhost/ is another way to do this.
If your web server is up and running, an "It works" message will be displayed. Both MySQL and Apache will be running at the backdrop and will properly start when you boot again. With a functional web server, you can have the files edited in /var/www. Refresh your browser to notice the changes on your website.
Why Should You Create A VPS Server?
In most instances, the only thing that your hosting provider will do is to have the basic server software such as Nginx or Apache set up. Every other thing that needs to be done is entirely your business.
Normally, you will use the command line to interact with your VPS rather than using a graphical user interface. At first, it may appear intimidating, with time, you'll get familiarized with it if checking for the correct commands and checking out some YouTube tutorial isn't going to be a hell of a task for you! When you do this, you'll get acquainted with some simple commands and some other information about managing your server.
