I don’t know of any VPS that charge that way but you might look to a Cloud Services provider…

If you can find one that will let you build what amounts to a VPS on their service some of them will charge according to a range of minutes your cloud instance is actually running.

If you need it only sporadically and your own internet connection can handle the traffic (broadband) this might be a good use of a old PC re-purposed as a server.

AM I CHARGED WHEN THE CLOUD SERVER IS POWERED OFF

There’s several ‘servers on a stick or disk’ you can find on eBay even. Or you can use Sentora as your Control Panel on Centos or maybe Ubunto which will build a server as it installs itself.

A core tenet of using public cloud for IT infrastructure is the ability to pay only for what you use. In line with this fundamental concept, we’ve just released a major innovation for IBM Cloud virtual server instances (VSIs). In select data centers, we are now offering VSIs that support more granular billing and the ability to suspend billing altogether when you power them off.

There are a number of different reasons that customers have been asking for this capability. Sure, you could just terminate your instance and spin up a new one when you need it. But the process of reprovisioning and reconfiguring settings can be impractical for routine use. As a result, many users choose to leave VSIs running even when they know that the time spent on running their actual workloads is likely to be minimal.

We ended up taking a different approach than our competitors, and our implementation offers significant advantages.

You can create and manage up to 99 virtual machines (VM) with a current Dynamic Cloud Server contract. The flexible IONOS fee system allows you to bill the individual VMs in a targeted manner.

Calculation according to period of use

The VMs are calculated to the hour according to their period of use via the time stamp on the server. This means that the calculation is only done if the server was started with the corresponding configuration.

You incurred the charges earlier in the billing cycle

If you ran an EC2 instance at the beginning of the month, but you stopped or terminated it later, your bill will include charges for the time that the instance was running.

You terminated your instances, but you still have EC2 resources provisioned to your account

The Elastic Compute Cloud line item in your bill includes resources other than instances. EC2 instances are often used along with other EC2 resources, such as the following:

  • Elastic IP addresses
  • Amazon Elastic Block Store (Amazon EBS) volumes

Expand the Elastic Compute Cloud line item in the Bills page to see your EC2 usage by resource. Then, open the Amazon EC2 console and terminate or delete any resources that you don't need.

Stopped instances do not incur charges, but Elastic IP addresses or EBS volumes attached to those instances do.

To Improve Security

It’s pretty simple: if your servers are turned off, they are much harder to hack. It also simplifies the surrounding active security measures that are necessary when your servers are running. They don’t need to be monitored by the network operations center; they don’t need to be virus scanned; there is less traffic for the packet sniffers to have to process; and you don’t have to worry about unauthorized login attempts after hours.

To Reduce Environmental Impact

In aggregate, cloud computing customers have enormous potential in their hands to reduce energy demand and carbon emissions. If you turn off your instances when they’re not being used, you free that space for other, active instances..

While AWS and other cloud service providers are making efforts to use more renewable energy sources and reduce carbon emissions, today they are still a huge drain of non-renewable resources – which makes efficient use of current infrastructure all the more important.

BEST, POWERFUL AND CHEAP SSD CLOUD SERVER

SeekDotnet Cloud Server offers scalibility, quick setup, self healing, and reliability. You can have the most suitable resources of disk space and RAM based on your requirements at prices that are similar to shared hosting. A Cloud Server allows you to customize and individualize server settings for your unique requirements. This combination makes our Cloud Server ideal for web sites that require faster delivery and maximum performance. Our Cloud Server gives you total control over your Web presence and best of all.In starts with a basic root server onto which you then add additional products and services. In other words, you only pay for what you need.

Cloud Server is a much more advanced form of hosting, whereby clients purchase whole physical servers. This means that the entire server is dedicated to them with no other clients sharing it.

Cloud Server is suitable for business and E-Commerce because our Cloud Server provide large bandwidth and guaranteed data security

With an upgraded hosting platform like cloud hosting, however, it’s actually possible to find high-quality services among the cheapest plans. For less than $10, site owners can take a sizeable step up from shared hosting without introducing massive headaches about cloud server configuration and management. The cheapest cloud hosting packages listed below range from super-charged shared hosting to unmanaged object or block storage.

When it comes to cheap web hosting of any variety, the host’s industry reputation is the key factor.

InterServer pushes massive scaling and customization in its highly configurable cloud environments. Each building block of computing resources, essentially one CPU core, 2048MB of memory, 30GB of SSD storage, and 1TB of data transfer, is called a slice; once your website or application scales to require four or more slices, the company will pitch in with managed support for security patches, diagnosis, and help with control panels.

Hostinger was an obvious contender, as it offers what are probably the lowest prices in the market for long-term SSD hosting.

Doing away with phone support is one thing that enables Hostinger to keep prices so cheap while still providing a speedy service. I’ve tested uptime with Hostinger, and it is indeed above 99.9%, as promised, and my site’s performance was fantastic in the US and all over Europe.

Don’t be put off by the lack of phone support, because Hostinger’s knowledge base and live chat agents are some of the best around. Live chat is available 24/7, and the representatives have been properly trained to help you with anything from connecting your domain to optimizing WordPress.

  • 10 GB of SSD storage space – That’s on the basic Hostinger plan. The two more advanced plans offer 20 GB and 30 GB of storage and can host an unlimited number of websites.

If you manage multiple projects ranging from small to enterprise then Kamatera is the perfect option for you. It offers a variety of cloud hosting plans alongside customization option where you can configure a suitable server depending on your usage nature.

The company has years of industry experience in IT and web hosting business. They have one of the advanced cloud infrastructures built with cutting edge technologies, solid state drives, and various global data centers.

Kamatera let you choose from 13 data centers located in 4 continents, allow more than 100 OS images, easy scalability in a few seconds, and server launch under 60 seconds. There are dozens of operating system versions available to choose from including Windows, Linux and custom ones as well.

You can scale server resources for up to 384GB Ram, 1TB space, and 72 vCPUs with a single click right from the web based console. For billing, users can either pick hourly or monthly paying cycle.

If you’re working with a tight budget and want to pay as little as possible for your hosting, the two obvious choices will be cheap VPS hosting or shared hosting. While VPS hosting doesn’t typically provide the same level of speed, stability, and scalability as cloud and dedicated servers do, it is a step up from shared plans.

With a VPS, you share hardware with other clients, but not resources. Instead, you get your own virtual space on the server, which translates to more privacy and isolation than you can expect from a shared hosting plan.

VPS hosting is best for websites with medium levels of traffic. They’re a worthwhile option if you’re looking for a middle ground between shared and dedicated hosting, and/or you have a small budget to work with.

Cheap VPS hosting is an effective way to keep costs down as you’re still trying to grow and scale your business.

When it comes to web hosting, VPS hosting bridges the gap between shared and dedicated hosting. Shared hosting is where your account is one of many small accounts sharing a web server. A dedicated server is where you rent the entire server, so that it is dedicated to your business.

VPS hosting offers a mix of both worlds, where only a handful of VPS accounts share the same server, but come with all the software management responsibilities you would get with a dedicated server - hence the name, Virtual Private Server (VPS).

This offers a number of advantages, not least that more resources are available to your account under a VPS that wouldn't be available with a shared hosting account. Additionally, shared hosting accounts tend to be rigid in their software outlay, which means they often cannot cater for customized server or software settings - something that isn't a problem at all with a VPS hosting account.

WHO IS THE CHEAPEST PUBLIC CLOUD PROVIDER

Cloud hosting is the best way to make your content accessible all around the world through numerous servers instead of using a CDN(Content Distribution Network) service. As this infrastructure built with multiple servers and that is why it’s a little bit costly than shared hosting. If you’re looking for the cheap cloud hosting, then keep reading to find the best one.

Cloud Hosting mainly designed to deliver the maximum and non-stop service. And guess how? In cloud hosting, multiple servers are connected (parallelly) in such a way to act like one. The more simple explanation, unlike to the shared hosting service who rely on just a single server, cloud hosting consists of more than one server.

Thus, this significantly reduces the chances of downtime, low speed, and data loss. It uses higher resources than traditional hosting which makes it more expensive and to take benefits from this type of hosting; you have to pay more money.

GearHost claims that it was “made with love in Arizona”. While I’m generally skeptical about things made with love in Arizona, I tried the service out and was really happy with what I saw. It took me minutes to get on-board and launch my free cloud instance, and the entire process was extremely well thought of.

The service has five different cloud plans, with the basic one being completely free to use, for life. After choosing the free plan, all it took to get started was a quick signup form and basic email verification.

  • Many prices go down: 70 percent of the 104 price points we include in our comparison have fallen since our last comparison in April 2017. While this is a fraction of the total price points, they represent some of the most commonly used instances. Of the 26 price points we analyzed for each cloud provider, AWS dropped 19 of 26 prices, Azure dropped 24 of 26 prices, Google dropped 4 of 26 prices, and IBM dropped 26 of 26 prices.
  • New instances for our comparison: Cloud providers continue to add new instances, and in some cases new instance families. For example, AWS added the C5 instance family (the next generation for C4 instances) and IBM moved from fully custom options to instance families.
  • Discounting options increase: There are growing opportunities (and challenges) in getting discounts. Azure introduced Reserved Instances with up to 72 percent savings, AWS added one year Convertible Reserved Instances, and Google introduced one year and three year Committed Use Discounts.
  • AWS Spot Instances — the best way to get the cheapest EC2 instance. This option offers heavy discounts for excess infrastructure, which can be reclaimed for other workloads at any time.
  • Azure Low Priority VMs — similar to AWS’s spot instances, although there is a fixed discount for Azure’s offering and a few other operational differences.
  • Google Cloud Preemptible VMs — Google Cloud’s preemptible VMs is another similar option.
  • Google Cloud Sustained Use Discounts — this is a built-in pricing mechanism for Google users that discounts pricing the more you run each server.

ParkMyCloud users have a straightforward way to do this. You can not only create and customize reports of your cloud spending and savings, but you can also schedule these reports to be emailed out. Users are already putting this to work by having savings reports automatically emailed to their bosses and department heads, to ensure that leadership is aware of the cost savings gained… and so users can get credit for their efforts.

  • Amazon EC2 — The original large scale cloud provider, available global in many regions across multiple datacenters. Using m5.xlarge configuration for comparison.
